‘Extinction’ A Monstrous Apocalypse

When fans think about a post-apocalyptic show, the first things that come to mind are either zombies or plagues. But in the new film "Extinction," there will be a different kind of zombie introduced that resurfaces long after the survivors thought they were extinct.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the extinction of the human race is mostly the theme, given that the film features a trio of survivors in a large metropolis in a frozen world. But when they encounter a lady survivor, they find out more than they wanted to know.
The two men are portrayed onscreen by Matthew Fox ("Lost," "We Are Marshall") and Jeffrey Donovan ("Burn Notice"). They have a young girl with them, and all they are trying to do is survive the Earth that they have inherited.
Fox plays a man who continues to DJ at a radio station, to look for survivors. But it falls on deaf ears -- or so it seems.
The monstrous zombies have adapted to the cold weather that the survivors thought had wiped them out. But they also soon find out that adapting is not the only thing they have done. Their new enigmatic forms have developed what appears to be a strong force within them and they are not the slow moving zombies classically inherent to George Romero films or "The Walking Dead."
The zombies have in some way become more monstrous, more menacing in the way that they now have speed and strength on their side.
The trailer for the film clearly shows it will play out much in the same way as Josh Hartnett's "30 Days of Night." The action mounts in a frozen world where there is no one on the outside who can come and save them. They either fight to survive or they die and get eaten.
